Bringing Light and Water – Masjid Oke Odo Close, Nigeria
Masjid Oke Odo Close – Solar System and Water Well Project Location: Oke Odo Close, Apete, Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria…

Location: Oyo State and Kogi State, Nigeria
Masjids and Madrasah learning centres play an important role in supporting Islamic education and strengthening communities. They provide spaces where men, women and children can come together to learn their deen, develop their understanding of Islam and build stronger connections with their faith.
However, discussions with local imams, teachers and community leaders highlighted a shortage of essential Islamic educational curriculum materials across several learning centres. Without access to appropriate resources, these centres faced difficulties providing consistent and effective Islamic education to their communities.
Access to Islamic educational materials is essential for supporting the teaching and learning of Islam. Children need opportunities to develop their understanding of the Qur’an and Islamic teachings, while adults also benefit from accessible learning resources to strengthen their knowledge and practice.
Many Masjids and Madrasah learning centres lacked the necessary curriculum materials to support their teaching activities. There was a clear need to provide these resources, helping local teachers deliver lessons and ensuring learners of all ages could access beneficial Islamic knowledge.
Alhamdulillah, with the support of our donors and the assistance of our trusted local support partner, Ibrahim Trust supported the provision of essential Islamic educational curriculum materials to Masjids and Madrasah learning centres across Oyo and Kogi States.
The original intention was to support 15 learning centres during Phase One and assess the impact of the project. However, following an overwhelmingly positive response from local communities and growing requests for assistance, the project extended its reach beyond the initial locations.
The beneficiary centres included:
Oyo State
Al-Huda Centre for Arabic and Islamic Studies, Oke-Amu, Oyo.
Òkè Alebiosu Central Mosque, Alebiosu Baago Street, Oyo.
Markaz Al-Imam Ahmad Central Mosque, Oyo.
Kogi State
First Central Mosque, Zango Daji, Lokoja.
Natako Central Mosque, Natako.
Alhamdulillah, the project has helped strengthen Islamic education across the supported communities by providing learning centres with essential educational materials to support their teaching activities.
Teachers and learners now have improved access to resources that help facilitate Islamic lessons, support the development of religious knowledge and encourage continued learning among children and adults.
The positive response from community leaders demonstrated the importance of this support, with interest extending beyond the original locations as neighbouring communities also recognised the need for similar assistance.
More than simply providing educational materials, this project represents an investment in knowledge, faith and future generations. The benefits of Islamic education can continue long after the initial donation, as knowledge is shared, lessons are taught and future generations develop a stronger understanding of their deen.
We are sincerely grateful to our donors whose generosity helped make this project possible. May Allah reward them abundantly and make every lesson taught, every piece of knowledge gained and every person who benefits a source of ongoing reward and Sadaqah Jariyah for them. Ameen.
