Bringing Light and Water – Masjid Oke Odo Close, Nigeria
Masjid Oke Odo Close – Solar System and Water Well Project Location: Oke Odo Close, Apete, Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria…

Location: Sankya Village
For many children in Sankya Village, the madrasah is where their journey with the Holy Qur’an begins. It is a place where young learners come together to develop their recitation, strengthen their understanding of Islam and build a lifelong connection with the words of Allah. However, the madrasah was struggling to meet the needs of its growing number of students, with a shortage of learning materials making lessons increasingly difficult to deliver.
The madrasah had very few Qur’ans and individual Juz available. Many of the existing copies were old, worn and damaged, leaving children having to share limited resources. Teachers often relied on traditional wooden writing boards, manually preparing verses for each lesson. While this approach supported learning, it was time-consuming and limited the time available for reading, recitation and memorisation.
Additional learning resources were urgently needed to support the teachers and provide more children with the opportunity to attend classes.
Ibrahim Trust supported the distribution of new copies of the Holy Qur’an and individual Juz to the madrasah, ensuring that students across its classrooms had access to the essential materials needed for their Islamic education.
The provision of new Qur’ans and Juz has made a significant difference to the madrasah, helping it accommodate approximately 80 children.
Teachers can now deliver lessons more efficiently, while students are able to follow their studies directly from the new books rather than relying on shared or damaged copies. This has created a more positive learning environment, allowing children to spend more time reading, reciting and memorising the Holy Qur’an.
The impact extends beyond the classroom. More children now have the opportunity to access Islamic education, develop their knowledge and pursue their aspirations of becoming knowledgeable Muslims and, in shaa Allah, future Huffaz of the Holy Qur’an.
We are sincerely grateful to our donors whose generosity has helped transform the learning environment for these children. May Allah reward them abundantly and make every page read, every verse recited and every child who benefits from these resources a source of ongoing reward and Sadaqah Jariyah. Ameen.
