Community Tube Well Project – Village Maharam

Background

For families living in Village Maharam, access to a reliable supply of safe water had long been a daily challenge. Although the surrounding region has abundant natural water sources, these were not always suitable or safe for drinking and household use.

With 17 people living in the area, families depended on shared water sources for their everyday needs. Seasonal flooding could affect the quality of local supplies, while during drier periods residents sometimes had to travel further to find usable water.

The Need

A dependable source of clean water was needed to make daily life easier for local families and provide a safer, more sustainable solution to their water challenges. A community tube well would give residents convenient access to underground water, reducing their reliance on uncertain sources and the need to travel further to collect it.

Our Contribution

Recognising this need, Ibrahim Trust supported the installation of a community tube well in Village Maharam.

Work involved identifying a suitable location, drilling to reach an underground water source and installing a hand pump system so that residents could draw water whenever required.

The project was successfully completed in May 2022, providing the community with a shared water source for its residents.

The Outcome

Alhamdulillah, the completed tube well now provides a reliable source of water for 17 people living in Village Maharam.

Families can collect water close to their homes, making everyday activities such as drinking, cooking and maintaining household hygiene easier and more convenient.

Having a dedicated water source also reduces reliance on uncertain local supplies, helping to support the health, hygiene and wellbeing of everyone who depends on it.

Through the generosity of donors, the people of Village Maharam now benefit from improved access to an essential resource that will continue to serve the community for years to come. May Allah reward everyone who contributed and make this project a source of ongoing Sadaqah Jariyah. Ameen.
