Zakat Distribution – Dina, Pakistan – since 2021
Zakat Distribution Project – Muftian, Jhelum Location: Muftian, Dina, Tehsil & District Jhelum, Pakistan Background Since 2021, Ibrahim Trust has…

Location: Missira Village, The Gambia
In rural communities across The Gambia, the masjid is often at the heart of village life. It serves not only as a place for the five daily prayers but also as a centre for Islamic learning, community gatherings and strengthening the bonds of faith and unity.
In Missira Village, the growing population and surrounding communities created an increasing need for a larger and more suitable place of worship. The existing facilities could no longer comfortably accommodate the growing number of worshippers attending daily prayers, Jumu’ah and important occasions such as Ramadan and Eid.
Recognising the importance of providing a suitable and welcoming place of worship, Ibrahim Trust supported the construction of a new masjid to serve Missira Village and neighbouring communities.
Access to a suitable place of worship is essential for supporting the religious and spiritual life of a community. As the number of worshippers increased, the existing facilities became insufficient to accommodate the congregation comfortably.
There was a clear need for a larger masjid that could serve the growing population, provide appropriate facilities for both men and women, and accommodate daily prayers, Friday congregations and special religious gatherings.
A new purpose-built masjid would provide a lasting place of worship and learning, ensuring that residents of Missira and surrounding villages could come together in a suitable environment to practise their faith.
With the generosity of our donors, Ibrahim Trust supported the construction of a new two-storey masjid in Missira Village, providing a dedicated place of worship for the local and surrounding communities.
The project included:
Two-storey masjid building: Construction of a larger prayer facility designed to accommodate the growing number of worshippers.
Wudu facilities: A dedicated ablution area, allowing worshippers to prepare for prayer in a clean and organised environment.
Women’s prayer area: A separate prayer space to ensure female members of the community have suitable facilities to participate in congregational worship.
Community worship facilities: A dedicated environment to support the five daily prayers, Jumu’ah, Ramadan, Eid and Islamic learning activities.
The project began in 2021 and involved a significant commitment to delivering a lasting place of worship for the community.
Alhamdulillah, the new masjid was successfully completed in August 2026 and now serves approximately 2,000+ people from Missira Village and surrounding communities.
The larger two-storey building provides worshippers with improved facilities and greater capacity, allowing the community to gather more comfortably for daily prayers, Friday congregations and special religious occasions.
The dedicated wudu facilities have made preparing for prayer more convenient, while the separate women’s prayer area ensures that female worshippers also have an appropriate space to participate in congregational worship.
Beyond providing a place for prayer, the masjid has become an important centre for Islamic learning, community gatherings and strengthening relationships between neighbouring villages.
More than simply constructing a building, this project represents a lasting investment in faith, worship and community development. Every prayer performed, every Qur’an lesson delivered and every act of worship carried out within its walls has the potential to bring ongoing benefit for generations to come.
We are sincerely grateful to our donors whose generosity helped make this project possible. May Allah reward them abundantly and make every prayer performed, every lesson taught and every act of worship within this masjid a source of continuous reward and Sadaqah Jariyah for them. Ameen.
