Zakat Distribution Project – Missira Village

Location: Missira Village, The Gambia

Background

Missira Village is a close-knit community where faith, family and mutual support play an important role in everyday life. However, like many communities, some households face financial hardship and struggle to meet their essential daily needs.

For vulnerable individuals and families, the rising pressure of everyday living costs can make it difficult to afford necessities such as food, clothing and other household essentials.

Recognising the importance of supporting those facing financial difficulties, Ibrahim Trust helped facilitate a zakat distribution initiative to provide direct assistance to those most in need within the village.

The Need

Zakat is an important means of supporting eligible individuals and families experiencing financial hardship. It helps ensure that those facing difficult circumstances receive assistance to meet their essential needs and maintain their dignity.

In Missira Village, vulnerable households needed additional financial support to ease the burden of everyday expenses. There was a clear need to ensure that zakat reached those eligible to receive it, providing practical assistance and helping families manage their daily responsibilities.

Our Contribution

With the generosity of our donors, Ibrahim Trust supported the distribution of zakat funds directly to eligible individuals and vulnerable families in Missira Village.

Working with trusted local support, the initiative helped identify those most in need and ensure that financial assistance reached the intended recipients.

The project has been ongoing since 2025, providing continued support to vulnerable members of the community.

The Outcome

Alhamdulillah, the zakat distribution has provided much-needed financial relief to vulnerable individuals and families across Missira Village.

The assistance has helped recipients meet essential household expenses, including food, clothing and other daily necessities, easing financial pressures and enabling families to manage their circumstances with greater dignity and reassurance.

Beyond the immediate financial support, the initiative has helped strengthen the spirit of compassion, generosity and community solidarity. It serves as a reminder that those experiencing hardship are not forgotten and that collective generosity can make a meaningful difference in people’s lives.

Zakat is more than financial assistance; it is a means of fulfilling an important obligation while supporting those in need and helping build stronger, more resilient communities.

We are sincerely grateful to our donors whose zakat contributions have made this support possible. May Allah accept their zakat, purify their wealth, place barakah in their provisions and reward them abundantly. Ameen.
